Position Overview:
We are looking for talented Roto Artists to join our growing VFX team. As a Roto Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality mattes to isolate elements in live-action footage, providing the foundation for compositing, paint, and visual integration workflows.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Produce accurate and detailed mattes for characters, props, and other elements
- Use a mix of manual rotoscoping and planar/point tracking to maintain consistent mattes across frames
- Collaborate closely with compositors and paint artists to ensure integration with the larger VFX pipeline
- Organize layers, maintain clean node structures, and manage shot versions efficiently
- Meet production deadlines while maintaining high visual quality
- Follow naming conventions and studio guidelines
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in a VFX/post-production environment
- Proficiency with Silhouette FX, Mocha, and Nuke
- Ability to execute frame-by-frame roto as well as tracking-assisted roto techniques
- Solid understanding of motion, edge detail, and feathering
- Strong eye for detail and consistency across complex movements
- A showreel that demonstrates clean, accurate mattes and your roto workflow
Nice to Have:
- Experience working on feature films or episodic content
- Familiarity with clean plate generation or basic paint techniques
- Knowledge of 3D matchmoving or projection techniques
- Comfort working in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment
